Villa Soncino
“Renovation and Partition in Multi Property, to Accommodate the Modern Living in a Heritage Rural Villa”
The project consists of a complete renovation of an ancient farmhouse, 2000 sqm large. The primary requirement was to create independent houses for three families, plus three dependencies, from the whole complex. The primary challenge was to design each property according to the specific needs of each single-family and yet keeping the villa complex in its typological integrity.
As main design criterion, in common among all the three units, we decided to leave the “capriate”, the typical roof structures, open and exposed. This way we obtained a very emotional spacial result, quite unusual for residential units, which we emphasised through skylights that flood the ambience with light, giving a sense of lightness and transparency. In the secondary rooms, we used the volume under-roof to create mezzanines that double the space of bedrooms and wardrobes.
We designed customised furniture, we took significant attention to the lighting design, and we revamped the landscaping, of course conserving the existing arboreal patrimony.
We designed important structural works to comply with the users’ requirements in compliance with the latest anti-seismic regulations. Likewise for the MEP and plumbing, where state of the art has been in place for thermal comfort and energy efficiency. Coordination of security and automation systems completed our work of integrated design.
